FC 27 Ultimate Team Is Changing How Players Build Their Clubs: IGGM.com Explains Gallery, Evolutions and SBCs

EA SPORTS FC 27 brings a wealth of new content to Ultimate Team, but three changes are perhaps more noteworthy than initially anticipated: FUT Gallery, Pathway Evolutions, and Streamlined SBCs.

The official FUT Deep Dive explains the design purpose of each update, while some Close Beta videos from the community provide a clearer understanding of how they actually work in-game.

IGGM.com believes these three features indicate that EA is making changes to something more fundamental than menus or individual rewards.

FUT Gallery

FUT Gallery is perhaps the biggest change to how players interact with their clubs throughout the entire FC 27 cycle.

Officially described as a permanent record of Player Items that have ever appeared in your club, most player cards obtained through FC coins, auctions at Auction House, completing objectives, SBCs, and other FUT rewards can be added to Gallery.

More importantly, player cards don’t have to remain permanently in Gallery; even if you later sell them or submit them to SBCs, they still contribute to your Gallery.

This detail is crucial. In previous FUT cycles, selling a player card typically meant the end of its connection with your club. FC 27 changes this tradition.

How It Works?

Players can build Gallery sets around leagues, clubs, countries, or other themes, choosing to manually add player cards or have them automatically populated. Each Gallery set earns a score and a rank, with higher-quality or more valuable FUT 27 players contributing more to the score.

For example, a Premier League Set can be upgraded and ranked as more eligible cards are collected. Completing and upgrading Gallery also helps progress Gallery and earn rewards, including Gallery Tokens and FC coins.

Hidden Issues

However, FC 27’s Gallery does have some issues.

Players now need to consider squads, evolutions, objectives, SBCs, campaign content, and gallery progression. The developers are trying to make this easier with the new Campaign Hub, but the amount of information players need to process continues to grow.

This might not be a problem for hardcore collectors, but for casual players, it can feel like yet another system requiring constant attention.

Pathway Evolutions

Evolutions have become one of the most personalized parts of Ultimate Team. You can gradually develop a player who wasn’t initially very valuable into someone perfectly suited to your team.

FIFA 27 further expands on this concept with Pathway Evolutions.

The official announcement states that some evolutions will offer branching upgrade paths, rather than forcing all players to go through the exact same upgrade process.

Moreover, Traditional linear Evolutions are still retained, so Pathways are more of a supplement than a replacement.

This might sound like a relatively small change, but in the opinion of IGGM.com, it actually addresses one of the biggest limitations of fixed Evolutions. This is especially suitable for players who prefer building teams based on personal preferences rather than simply pursuing the highest-rated upgraded cards.

Evolution Chain Preview

EA has also added an Evolution Chain Preview feature, allowing players to see how an evolution will affect future evolution paths before making a decision.

More choices are always good, but only if players understand the consequences of each choice. Being able to see potential evolution chains in advance means players can plan around their cards, rather than realizing they’ve gone astray several stages later.

The whole process feels more like building a player, not just simply upgrading. This is where Evolution and Gallery begin to connect.

If FC 27 allows cards to have a permanent place in your club’s history, players have more reason to invest time in developing cards that might otherwise be replaced by the next promotion. A favorite player can be both a Gallery piece and an EVO project.

This is quite different from spending FUT coins on Auction House to get the next upgraded card.

Streamlined SBCs

FC 27’s new SBC system isn’t intended to completely replace the traditional SBC. Instead, Streamlined SBCs will primarily be used for player and upgrade SBCs, while traditional SBCs will continue to handle more puzzle-like challenges.

In other words, players will no longer need to build a complete squad around Chemistry, positions, and squad ratings. Instead, they can submit eligible cards from their club to reach target scores.

This makes achieving the required score much simpler – simply unlock eligible players.

By actively participating in various game modes, winning matches, and completing objectives and challenges in daily gameplay, you can accumulate funds to acquire your desired players through Auction House or by opening packs.

However, this method is obviously too slow. Therefore, you can also buy EA FC 27 coins after the game launches to directly bid for or open packs of your target players.

How It Works?

Any player who has completed dozens of squad challenges knows how time-consuming it is to find the right card combinations. If the goal is simply to convert unwanted bronze, silver, or gold cards into upgrade rewards, manually building another team becomes more of a management task than a game.

The simplified SBC significantly speeds up this process.

Gallery lets you decide which collectibles are important to you; Pathways lets you decide how specific players should develop; and the simplified SBC lets you choose which club items to redeem for rewards, eliminating the need to repeat the same squad-building puzzles every time.
