Predicted Arsenal line-up against Aston Villa

Arsenal are set to travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa in the second Premier League fixture on Monday night.

Having thrashed Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield earlier this month, the Gunners comfortably overcame the newly promoted side Coventry City’s challenge in the Premier League last weekend.

On the other hand, after selling several star players such as Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Ezri Konsa, Aston Villa have endured a dire start this season.

Having lost the UEFA Super Cup final to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, they were thrashed by Brighton and Hove Albion 4-0 in the league last weekend.

Team news

Jurrien Timber and William Saliba are expected to be unavailable for selection due to their respective injury problems. Following Saliba’s injury, Arsenal have bought Ezri Konsa from the Villans for a fee of around £51m to strengthen the backline.

On the other hand, after sustaining an injury against Man City, Bruno Guimaraes was sidelined vs Coventry City, but he might be available for selection on Monday.

However, Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus are expected to leave before the end of this transfer window. So, the trio is unlikely to be selected in the matchday squad.

Predicted line-up

Mikel Arteta is unlikely to make many changes to his starting line-up, which defeated Coventry City. So, David Raya is expected to keep hold of his place in goal, while Illan Meslier and Kepa Arrizabalaga are likely to be among the substitutes.

Cristhian Mosquera started the last two games vs Man City and Coventry City, but Konsa might get the nod to start on Monday against his former club. Gabriel Magalhaes should be paired up with the Englishman at the heart of defence for Arsenal.

Ben White is likely to continue in the right-back position after displaying a promising performance last time out, while Riccardo Calafiori might be on the opposite side.

Myles Lewis-Skelly could start in the deep-lying playmaker role, and Declan Rice should be alongside the youngster in the engine room. So, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino would have to make do with a place on the bench.

Martin Odegaard is set to be in the creative midfield role; in that case, Eberechi Eze would be among the substitutes.

Christos Tzolis, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka are expected to be the front three for the North London club in this game.
