Arsenal in talks to sign Leverkusen star Kerim Alajbegovic

By on June 12, 2026

Arsenal are plotting a swoop to sign highly rated Bosnian winger Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Alajbegovic has been in excellent form during his debut campaign with Salzburg, recording 13 goals and four assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Austrian club on loan from Leverkusen.

Although only 18 years old, the left winger has already represented Bosnia and Herzegovina on ten occasions and scored his first international goal during the September international break last year, becoming the country’s youngest goalscorer since 1993.

He also held his nerve in the World Cup play-offs, converting a decisive penalty against Italy to help seal the Zmajevi’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His impressive displays for both club and country have earned him a place in Sergej Barbarez’s Bosnia squad for this summer’s tournament, where Group B encounters against co-hosts Canada, Switzerland and Qatar await.

Despite penning a long-term contract with his parent club, Leverkusen, after they triggered his buy-back clause, interest in Alajbegovic is expected to grow over the course of the transfer window.

One of the clubs showing interest in Alajbegovic is Arsenal, according to TEAMtalk, which claims that the Premier League winners are exploring a potential deal to sign the left winger this summer.

Exciting prospect

The north Londoners have conducted exploratory checks and have even held talks with the 18-year-old’s representatives about his potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium, according to the report.

Having only been re-signed in March, TEAMtalk adds that the German-born Bosnian international’s meteoric rise has increased his valuation to a projected £30m, with a summer departure not ruled out for the right offer.

However, Arsenal are set to face stern competition from several clubs, including Manchester United, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Sunderland, Inter Milan, Napoli, and AS Roma, in the race to sign Alajbegović, according to the report.

A move for Alajbegović is understandable, as movements are expected in Arsenal’s left-wing position. Reports in recent weeks suggest there’ll likely be departures, or at least an addition, especially with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli facing uncertain futures at the Emirates.

However, with Mikel Arteta looking to sustain his side’s dominance, he could do with a more established option who can have an immediate impact on their attacking output.

In that case, Alajbegović should only be signed to add depth and provide competition rather than be the primary option for the left-wing position.
