Arsenal are showing ‘significant interest’ in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, according to Fichajes.

Gibbs-White enjoyed an outstanding 2025-26 individual campaign, registering 18 goals and seven assists across all competitions while captaining Forest on an impressive run to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, where Aston Villa eventually eliminated them.

His tally of 15 Premier League goals saw him finish as the second-highest scoring English player in the Premier League, behind only Ollie Watkins. Those contributions proved crucial in helping the tricky trees secure their top-flight status after initial fears of relegation.

A head injury sustained during a 3-1 victory over Chelsea ruled him out of the second-leg defeat against Villa. Despite returning to score in each of Forest’s final two matches of the season, Gibbs-White suffered disappointment on the international stage after being omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Last summer, he reportedly agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur but ultimately committed his future to Forest by signing a contract extension through June 2028 after intervention from club owner Evangelos Marinakis.

It appears a departure could still be on the cards this summer as Fichajes reports that Arsenal have expressed ‘significant interest’ in signing Gibbs-White.

‘Ideal’ Rogers alternative

Having cooled their interest in Morgan Rogers, Mikel Arteta has asked the club to explore alternatives, with the 26-year-old now targeted, according to the report.

Despite going the distance in last season’s UEFA Champions League campaign, where they lost in the final, the Spanish outlet reports that Arteta sees Gibbs-White as the ‘ideal’ option to help the club clinch the title next season.

Last season, Gibbs White significantly improved his attacking game, which would be a pleasure for Arteta, especially given his already astute defensive commitment.

He took a total of 83 shots last season, with 32 of those going on target, which suggests he would have likely recorded more numbers than just his 18 last season.

Defensively, the England international made 3.18 recoveries per 90 minutes and won 130 duels last season. His relentlessness in pressing high is evident in his 20 possessions won in the final third alone, while 126 of his 1,744 touches were in the opposition box.

While it is unclear whether Forest would be open to Gibbs-White’s sale, there’s an expectation that a concrete offer well above his £60m Transfermarkt valuation could soften their stance.
