Arsenal ‘seriously interested’ in signing Livramento

By on April 1, 2026

Arsenal are ‘seriously interested’ in signing Newcastle United star Valentino Livramento, as per Football Insider.

The 23-year-old started his youth career at Roundshaw before joining Chelsea at the age of seven. After ranking through their youth system, he signed for Southampton without making his first team debut for the Blues.

Immediately, Livramento showed glimpses of his qualities at St Mary’s Stadium. Unfortunately, he picked up a serious knee injury, which kept him out of action for more than a year.

Still, Newcastle decided to secure his service in 2023, and he has showcased his qualities in the Premier League in recent years, helping his side win the Carabao Cup last term.

Following his recent eye-catching performances, the defender has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team.

Now, Football Insider state that after being impressed by Livramento, Arsenal are ‘seriously interested’ in signing him and could make a concrete approach during the offseason.

Eddie Howe is keen on keeping hold of his star player, with his existing deal set to run until 2028. However, Livramento might push to leave this summer if the Magpies fail to qualify for Europe next season.

Livramento to Arsenal

However, the report state that purchasing the Newcastle star won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Manchester City are also keen on him.

Livramento, valued at around 35m by Transfermarkt, is a defensively solid right-back. He has proven his worth in the Premier League and isn’t a finished article yet.

So, with Ben White struggling with fitness problems this season, Livramento could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal to bolster the backline should they purchase him.

However, Livramento has struggled with fitness problems this season; as a result, he has started only 12 Premier League matches. So, Arsenal need to be careful about that before making any potential swoop.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, following the conclusion of the international break, Arsenal will face Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-final next weekend before taking on Sporting CP in the Champions League quarter-final first leg next week.
