Arsenal express interest in Ajax star Mika Godts
Arsenal have expressed interest in signing exciting Belgian winger Mika Godts from Ajax next summer, according to Ekrem Konur.
Godts’ development began in Belgium, having come through the ranks at Anderlecht and then at Genk, where his talents caught the eye of Ajax, who swooped for him in January 2023.
Since he arrived in the Netherlands, the 20-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise, from being a regular at the academy side to making his debut as a 17-year-old in the 4-0 win over Fortuna Sittard on April 9, 2023.
He hasn’t looked back since then, going on to make a further 102 appearances and netting 22 goals. The current campaign is shaping up to be his best season, having netted 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for the Dutch giants, with his performances reportedly catching the eye of the Gunners.
Now, according to Konur, Godts is set to become a subject of keen interest next summer, and Arsenal have now expressed interest in the youngster.
The Belgium U21 international still has three years left in his contract, so getting him won’t come cheap, with Konur adding that Ajax are demanding a £30-34m fee to sanction his departure amid interest from the Gunners.
However, Arsenal will face stern competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, who are set to battle the Premier League leaders for Godts’ signature next summer, according to the journalist.
Godts to Arsenal
The winger has matched, and in several areas even outperformed, some of Arsenal’s key players statistically this season, although the overall competitiveness of the Eredivisie could still be a point of debate.
Despite Ajax’s struggles this season, the youngster has still managed 67 shots — five more than Bukayo Saka’s 63, according to FotMob. He also edges the Arsenal winger in passing, recording a 79.8% success rate compared to 76.7%, while his accuracy with long balls stands at 67.2%, comfortably higher than Saka’s 36.8%.
His creativity has also stood out, with 63 chances created — 11 more than the Gunners’ vice-captain. Dribbling remains a key strength too, completing 48.1% of his attempts, although he still trails slightly behind Saka’s 53.3% success rate.
Beyond his flair, dribbling, and creativity, Godts also possesses a relentless work ethic off the ball, as evidenced by his 129 duels won, making him a good fit for Mikel Arteta.
He certainly fits into the youth-driven recruitment model Arsenal are trying to establish since Andrea Berta was appointed in March 2025, with several influxes of highly rated prospects already completing moves to the Emirates Stadium over the last two transfer windows.
