Luis Henrique speaks on dream Arsenal move
Zenit St Petersburg winger Luis Henrique has spoken openly about his long-term wishes, and he made it clear that a move to Arsenal is something he would welcome.
The Brazilian joined Zenit for around £30.7 million and has settled well since his arrival. He has featured often this season and has been an important part of their attack.
The forward has played 17 matches in the current campaign. He has scored one goal and also supplied three assists during that period.
His regular involvement shows the trust he has earned within the team, and his form has drawn questions about what his next step could be.
In a recent chat with Globo Esporte, he responded to questions from Botafogo supporters about a possible return to Rio.
The 23-year-old came through the system there, so fans remain hopeful that he will wear their colours again one day. Henrique addressed their concerns in a calm and respectful manner.
He is under contract with Zenit until late 2028. He has stated several times that he wants to honour that contract and give his best for his current side.
Even so, he did not hide his admiration for English football or his strong interest in Arsenal.
He explained that his love for the Premier League goes back to his childhood, which explains why the idea of playing in England appeals to him.
When asked about a return to Botafogo, he said:
“I can’t talk about that now, because I’m at Zenit and I want to do a good job here. It’s a club with great structure, and I want to make history and win titles. For now, I’m going to keep the Botafogo fans curious. I can’t say if I’m coming back now.”
He then shifted to his long-term ambitions. Henrique confirmed that he wants to play in the Premier League and named Arsenal as his favourite side.
“I’m going to let life take me. I want to fulfil my contract here at Zenit, but I have dreams of playing for a team in England and playing in the Champions League. Since I was a kid, my dream has always been to play in England. There’s a team there that I like a lot, which is Arsenal. But, as I said, I want to fulfil my contract first.”
Why Arsenal Suit His Style
Arsenal could benefit from his profile in the future. Henrique plays with pace and direct intent, often taking on his marker in one-versus-one situations.
His ability to drive at defenders from either flank makes him a threat in open spaces and in tight areas. He can cut inside, attack the byline, finish chances, or create openings for others.
That mix of physical strength and close control is valued highly in the Premier League. It aligns with the type of winger Mikel Arteta has signed in recent seasons.
His style could fit well on either side of Arsenal’s attack, especially with the way the team look to stretch the pitch and create overloads out wide.
Henrique’s words show respect for Zenit and his current contract. Yet they also hint at a future where a move to England is possible.
Arsenal may keep an eye on him as he continues to develop, and his admiration for the club could make future talks easier if his situation ever changes.
