Arsenal eye move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Brown
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown, as per TEAMtalk.
The Gunners have established themselves as one of the Premier League’s strongest defensive teams under Mikel Arteta’s guidance, conceding only five goals in 11 matches thus far this season.
After signing Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié last summer, the North London club currently have a well-resourced defensive department.
Ben White and Jurrien Timber are the options for the right-back, and the duo can also provide cover in the CB role if needed. On the other hand, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori and Hincapié are left-back options with the Italian and the Ecuadorian capable of playing in the CB position as well if required.
Moreover, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Mosquera are the main centre-back options. However, it appears the Spanish boss isn’t completely satisfied with his defensive firepower and wants to add further depth.
TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal have registered their interest in Brown and have been keeping a close eye on his development before making a potential swoop.
Although the 22-year-old recently extended his deal until 2029 with Frankfurt, he has a release clause of around £48m, and only a few teams participating in specific European competitions can trigger it.
Brown to Arsenal
The German is even ‘enthusiastic’ about the prospect of playing in the Premier League. So, this is a huge boost for the North London club to secure his services.
However, the report claim that purchasing Brown won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United are also keen on signing him after being impressed by his recent eye-catching displays.
The 22-year-old is a technically gifted left-back but is also comfortable in the LWB role. In 15 appearances across all competitions, he has made four goal contributions and has helped his side keep three clean sheets thus far this term.
Brown’s recent impressive performances have been rewarded with a call-up to the German national team by Julian Nagelsmann. If the Frankfurt star can continue performing at his best throughout the season, he is highly likely to represent his nation in next summer’s World Cup.
