Arsenal eye bold move to sign PSG midfielder Vitinha
Arsenal are reportedly planning to seal an ambitious swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha, as per Caught Offside.
After rebuilding the squad with top-class talents from all around the world, the Gunners have now established themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League title this campaign.
It is essential to continue refreshing the squad to maintain their level, but finding players who can improve the team is difficult at this stage. So, they are seemingly planning to raid the European giants to sign the world’s best players.
Caught Offside claim that although Arsenal decided to revamp the midfield department by signing Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard last summer, they are planning to upgrade this position further.
The North London club have identified Vitinha as a serious option and have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop next year.
The Portuguese is considered one of the best players in the world; as a result, he has several other admirers apart from Arsenal, with Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich among those.
Vitinha to Arsenal
On the other hand, PSG have no intention of parting ways with the 25-year-old, with his existing deal set to run until 2029. They have slapped a whopping £114m price tag on his head to keep the vultures away.
However, the report claim that Liverpool, Los Blancos, and the Bavarian club have the financial muscle to pull off this deal, and Arsenal will also have to compete with those clubs for deals such as these to become one of the best.
Although Vitinha is short in stature, which might raise questions about whether he can cope with the physicality of the Premier League, he is a technically gifted deep-lying player and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in Mikel Arteta’s possession-based system.
If Arsenal manage to snare Vitinha from under the noses of Les Parisiens by beating other European giants in this race, it would represent a real statement acquisition.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
