Nathaniel Brown

Arsenal are reportedly battling with European giants over a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Nathaniel Brown, as per German outlet Bild.

The Gunners were very active in the summer transfer window and reinforced several areas of the squad to hand Mikel Arteta the necessary tools to challenge on all fronts this season.

They signed Kepa Arrizabalaga to support David Raya, while Piero Hincapié and Cristhian Mosquera were bought to bolster the defence. Moreover, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard joined following Thomas Partey and Jorginho’s departure as free agents.

In addition, Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze, and Viktor Gyokeres were purchased to revamp the frontline. Now, the North London club have built a strong team and have squad depth in every department.

Still, Bild report that Arsenal are planning to reinforce the squad further, with the left-back position on their radar. They have earmarked Brown as a serious option, having been impressed by his recent performances, and could make a concrete approach next year.

However, the Emirates club aren’t the only club in this race as Real Madrid and Manchester City are also considering making a move. The report say Frankfurt want at least £52m to sell him with his existing deal set to run until 2030.

Brown to Arsenal

Brown is a flying fullback and is also efficient in defensive contributions. He has enjoyed a bright start to this season, scoring a solitary goal and registering two assists in eight appearances across all competitions.

Having showcased his qualities for Frankfurt, he was selected to play for the Germany national team during this international break and made his debut against Luxembourg last week.

Brown is a talented player and possesses high potential. However, Arsenal don’t use flying fullbacks under Arteta; instead, the Spanish boss likes to deploy technically gifted players, who can build from the back, in the fullback positions.

So, the Frankfurt star might not be the ideal acquisition for Arsenal. Moreover, having already got Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Hincapié, Arteta’s side don’t need a new left-back.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him away from Deutsche Bank Park in January or next summer.
