Arsenal Renew Interest in Ollie Watkins for Summer Move

Arsenal are reportedly preparing another attempt to bring Ollie Watkins to the Emirates as they look to make him their second key attacking addition, according to Football Transfers .
The Gunners had previously tried to sign the England international during the January transfer window but saw their £40 million bid rejected by Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old striker remained at Villa Park as Unai Emery’s side pushed for a strong finish to the season.
However, Arsenal remain keen on strengthening their attacking options, having failed to bring in any forwards during the winter window—one of the key reasons for their struggles this season.
Watkins on Arsenal’s Radar
A lifelong Arsenal fan, Watkins has long been admired by the North London club. He was heavily linked with a move in January, but Villa refused to sanction a mid-season departure after selling Jhon Duran.
Now, with the summer window approaching, the Gunners are expected to reignite their pursuit.
Watkins, valued at £46 million (transfermarkt) has been in fine form this season, registering 12 goals and five assists in the Premier League.
His pressing ability, versatility, and proven top-flight experience make him an appealing target for Mikel Arteta as he looks to strengthen his frontline.
Arsenal Want Two Strikers
Despite their interest in Watkins, Arsenal’s primary target remains RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, as per the report.
The Slovenian forward is the club’s top priority, but the potential signing of Šeško will not deter them from pursuing Watkins.
The Gunners’ intent is clear: they want two new strikers to add real depth to their attack and make their frontline ‘fearful’, according to the report.
Watkins is seen as the ideal secondary piece of the puzzle, offering Premier League experience and a different tactical profile compared to Šeško.
Although Villa resisted Arsenal’s approach in January, the North Londoners are expected to return with a more aggressive pursuit in the summer.
In addition to Watkins and Šeško, Arsenal have been linked with several other attacking reinforcements ahead of the summer window.
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams are among the names on their radar as Arteta seeks to elevate his squad to the next level.
With a crucial summer ahead, Arsenal’s ambition in the transfer market is clear. Strengthening the attack is a top priority, and Watkins remains a key piece in their plans.
It’s unclear whether Villa will entertain negotiations, but with Arsenal determined to build a formidable attacking lineup, Watkins might soon get the chance to live out his lifelong dream at the Emirates Stadium.
