Arsenal keen on signing Las Palmas star Alberto Moleiro
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Las Palmas star Alberto Moleiro, as per Spanish outlet Super Deporte.
The Gunners currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as the two options to deploy in the left-wing position. Moreover, Raheem Sterling joined the club on a loan deal last summer to add depth to this position but has found it difficult to get regular first-team football at the Emirates Stadium thus far.
Gabriel Jesus is another player – who can provide cover in this position if needed. But, goal-scoring was an issue for the North London club in recent times just before the November international break.
In the last six games in the Premier League and Champions League, they only managed to find the back of the net four times. As a result, they found it difficult to win these games and have lost ground in the title race, sitting nine points behind the league leaders Liverpool.
Martinelli and Trossard have scored five goals combined in 15 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, while Jesus is yet to open his account this term. So, it seems Mikel Arteta is planning to reinforce the frontline next year to turn the situation around.
Moleiro to Arsenal
Super Deporte claims that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Moleiro after being impressed by his displays this season and are the ‘stand out’ club to secure his service.
The player has entered the final two-year of his current contract so Las Palmas could sell him next year to avoid losing him for free in 2026. The player has a £33m release clause in his current contract but could be available for less than that next summer due to his contractual situation.
Moleiro is a left-winger by traits but is also comfortable in the attacking midfield role. He is a technically sound and highly talented player. He has scored four goals in 13 La Liga appearances this season.
The U21 Spain international possesses the necessary attributes to play in Arteta’s system. It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to sign him next year to strengthen the attacking department.
