Arsenal interested in signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo this summer, as per the Spanish outlet Cadena Ser.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners are keen on reinforcing their attacking department by signing a new forward ahead of next season. Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen initially emerged as serious options, but it has recently been reported that Mikel Arteta wants to sign a versatile striker – who can play anywhere across the frontline.
So, Viktor Gyokeres has been mentioned as a serious target for the North London club with Alexander Isak emerging as a new key option in recent times. But, Rodrygo is seemingly on their radar as well.
According to the report by Cadena Ser, Arsenal are interested in signing Rodrygo and they could make a swoop to acquire his service this summer. However, the report claims that the Brazilian is keen on staying at Real Madrid although his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven is currently in threat for next season as Kylian Mbappe is highly likely to move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu this summer.
In addition, Cadena Ser states that Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are also plotting a swoop for him so purchasing the attacker won’t be easy for the North London club.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
It has been reported that Real Madrid don’t want to cash-in on Rodrygo unless his potential suitors such as Arsenal submit an offer of around £86m so Mikel Arteta’s side will have to splash a huge fee to secure his signature.
Rodrygo is an exceptional player and would be an excellent signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, the forward is more comfortable playing on the flanks and I think the Gunners need a natural centre-forward to take the next step.
So, although Rodrygo could be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him, Arteta’s side would be better off investing the reported £86m fee to sign a new striker.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to acquire the South American’s service in the upcoming window.
