Gyokeres in, Reiss Nelson out – Arsenal summer attacking transfer plans revealed
According to Football Insider, Arsenal could sell Reiss Nelson to help fund the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Last week, MilanLive.it stated that Arsenal were certain of Gyokeres’ abilities and were willing to pay £85 million for him. Over the weekend, it was revealed that Arsenal are willing to allow Reiss Nelson to depart for any of his admirers, such as Brighton, for £25 million.
Gyokeres to Arsenal
It now appears that these two transfers are linked. Football Insider has dropped a piece on Arsenal that claims the Gunners could sanction a Reiss Nelson exit deal to bankroll the £80 million+ signing of Gyokeres. According to the online source, the London club believes it is sensible to trade the talented Hale End graduate for the promising striker.
Nelson has had a tough time with Arsenal this season. He had the option to leave last summer when his contract expired, but he was persuaded to stay; he signed a new deal. He must rue that option because, despite the new contract, his fortunes have not changed.
With a desire to impress in the Premier League, 28 match days gone, and no league start afforded to him, it is clear he is not a cog in Arteta’s project. He’d be better off leaving.
Gyokeres on his part has created a name for himself this season with both Sporting Lisbon and the Swedish national team. In 50 games across all competitions, he has scored 36 goals and assisted 14 others.
Looking at his statistics, Gyokeres is one of the most dangerous attackers in Europe. Arsenal are looking for a top striker to lead them to the next level, and if they believe Gyokeres is the one, then Gunners fans should too.
The Arsenal attack could be at its peak next season. Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres, and Gabriel Martinelli might form a potent attack that could help the Gunners compete for all major trophies for years to come.
