Transfer insider drops two attacking deals Arsenal are set to secure this summer

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed to Arsenal fans the two deals they can expect in the summer transfer window.
The 2023–24 Premier League season is at the home stretch, and what most Arsenal fans care about is whether they will win the league title. Even so, there are already talks about potential summer transfer deals for the team’s progression.
Gooners must expect big deals in the upcoming transfer window to compensate for the quiet winter transfer window. FFP restrictions prevented Arsenal from doing business in January.
Upgrade Arsenal attack
Among the signings Arsenal fans may expect in the summer, David Ornstein revealed during a Q&A with the Athletic that a top striker and a top winger would be signed.
Arsenal’s strikers have underwhelmed this season. Gabriel Jesus has struggled with injuries, and when he has been available, he has struggled to score regularly. Eddie Nketiah has fallen down the pecking order. Arteta has, in recent weeks, opted to play Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz instead of him.
Only the transfer market can adequately address Arsenal’s striking issues. As a result, Ornstein confirms Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker and has identified three potential candidates. Among those discussed is Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres, who has a release clause worth around £85m.
“A striker is the main focus and they admire Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, Evan Ferguson and others,” the journalist said.
In addition to a striker, Arsenal are also expected to target a top-winger to compete with Saka. The Hale End graduate has been overutilized in the last few seasons. Many have been worried he might suffer from burnout. Arteta must have realized that next season he may need to rest Saka in order to keep him fresh and make him unpredictable.
Wolves winger Pedro Neto has long been considered the best alternative to Saka and Ornstein confirms that he’s definitely their target. The Portuguese wingers’ £80 million price tag and poor injury record could be an issue for the Gunners, as per the journalist.
Fortunately, he revealed that the Wolves winger is not the only player the team is looking at to boost their wing for the upcoming season.
“Then there is the long-term desire to bring in competition/backup in the wide attacking area. Pedro Neto remains of interest but he is not the only option and it is unlikely Arsenal will pay Wolverhampton Wanders’ asking price of £80million. He’s a brilliant player but does not have a great injury record,” the journalist added.
“There will also be competition for Neto, with Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur all in the mix.”
Arsenal’s attack has struggled at times this season, so it’s understandable that they’re emphasizing strengthening it. Arteta’s project will raise levels next season with the addition of better attacking options.
If Arsenal could bring in a top striker and another winger, they should have a squad capable of competing on all fronts next season.
