Arsenal ‘doing work’ to sign Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah
Arsenal have reportedly been monitoring the development of Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah ahead of a potential summer move, as per 90min.
After coming through the Gunners’ youth system, the 20-year-old joined Los Ches’ B side back in 2019 before establishing himself as a key first-team member at Estadio Mestalla.
According to the report by 90min, the US international is planning to leave Valencia at the end of this season and Arsenal, who are keen on beefing up their midfield department, are showing an interest in bringing him back to the Emirates Stadium.
The report further claims that Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Musah’s development and they have been ‘doing work’ to secure his signature during the off-season.
Musah – valued at around £19m by Transfermarkt – still has more than three years left in his current contract. So, Valencia are in a solid position to demand a big fee if they fail to keep hold of their star man beyond this season.
Musah to Arsenal
However, should Los Ches – who are languishing down 17th in La Liga, three points behind safety – fail to stay in the Spanish top-flight next season then they would be forced to sell the 20-year-old in a cut-price deal.
Musah can play anywhere across the middle of the park. He is dynamic, technically sound, has an eye for long-range passing, can dribble past the opposition defenders in tight areas and also can create chances for the attackers.
The 20-year-old is an extremely talented player and will add intensity to Arsenal’s play if he were to join the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Musah could be a very good signing for the North London club should they push forward with this deal and get it done. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal opt to formalise their interest in purchasing him if he eventually ends up leaving the Estadio Mestalla at the end of this season.
It has widely been suggested that Declan Rice is Arsenal’s priority target to strengthen their engine room. So, Musah could be the alternative option that they are lining up if they fail to purchase the West Ham United star in the summer.
