Arsenal drawn to face Belarusian champions in Europa League last-32
The draw for the last-32 of the Europa League was conducted today and Arsenal have been drawn to face BATE Borisov.
We breezed through the group stages as our reserves made light work of Sporting Lisbon, Vorskla and Qarabag with Arsenal taking 16 points from a possible 18 on offer to finish top of Group E.
Oddly for Arsenal, given how shocking our defence was on Sunday, we actually finished the group stages with the joint best defensive record in the competition having conceded just 2 goals in our 6 games.
We’ll now take on Belarusian champions BATE Borisov in the knockout stages after they finished second in Group L behind Chelsea and we’re facing a freezing cold away trip in February.
Due to a clash with Chelsea, UEFA have confirmed Arsenal will play the second leg at the Emirates on Wednesday 20th February 2019 at 5pm – which is going to cause carnage on London’s public transport system.
It means the first leg will be played after our Premier League trip to Huddersfield and before a potential FA Cup fifth round clash if we get that far. While the return leg at the Emirates will be before our home game against Southampton.
