Arsenal dealt major injury blow as key man ruled out for rest of season

According to the Mirror, Arsenal have been dealt a major blow as Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury.

Mkhitaryan limped out of our Europa League quart-final win over CSKA Moscow last week after sustaining a knee problem midway through the second half of the 4-1 victory.

The Armenian international headed straight down the tunnel after being replaced by Alex Iwobi and Arsene Wenger confirmed the attacker has damaged his ligament.

The initial feeling was Miki would miss at least three games but Wenger was reluctant to put a definitive timescale on his recovery until the results of a scan came back.

Unfortunately, the Mirror claim that a firm time-frame has now been revealed and the 29-year-old has been ruled out for the rest of our Premier League campaign.

However, the report says that if he makes a swift recovery, there is still a chance Mkhitaryan could fit in time to play in the Europa League final on May 16th – should Arsenal manage to progress all the way to the final.

We have a great chance to reach the semi-finals as we head in to Thursday’s second leg against CSKA Moscow holding a 4-1 lead but we could draw Atletico Madrid in the next stage and they’d be serious competition.

Let’s hope for a positive draw if we reach the semi’s and hopefully Miki will be back to help us lift the Europa League in Lyon next month.
