Arsenal hoping to sign £60m attacker after Wenger pulls out of deal for Ligue 1 ace

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are hoping to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir after Arsene Wenger pulled out of a potential £90m deal to sign Thomas Lemar.
We were strongly linked with Lemar throughout the summer and the French international was understood to be close to completing a £90m move on deadline day.
Wenger had launched a club record swoop for the 22-year-old after identifying him as the man to replace Man City-bound Alexis Sanchez but both deals ended up falling through.
The boss was fully expected to renew his interest at the end of the season after Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admitted they would cash-in on the attacker this summer.
However, the Mirror claim that Wenger has decided to pull out of the running due to increased competition from the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona while Monaco are also believed to be increasing their demands.
The newspaper says that a deal for Lemar is now ‘impossible’ so Arsenal have turned their attention to signing Fekir instead as Wenger tries to find replacements for Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
We’ve been strongly linked with Fekir recently with the Daily Star reporting earlier this week that we are close to agreeing a £60m deal with Lyon to sign the attacker at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old is enjoying an excellent season having provided 12 goals and 4 assists in 15 games for far this campaign so he’d certainly bring plenty of creativity if we do end up signing him.
Fekir can be deployed as a No.10 behind the frontman, as a striker or even out on the wing so he’s probably more likely to be viewed as a replacement for Sanchez than Ozil.
The French international is a huge talent, just like Lemar, so I’d personally be delighted to see either player come to Arsenal next summer but right now it seems Fekir is our prime target.
