Arsenal confident of signing £30m attacker after positive talks
The Daily Mail are reporting that Arsenal are confident of securing a deal to sign £30m-rated attacker Thomas Lemar following positive talks with Monaco.
Arsene Wenger is facing a hectic summer as he looks to tie down several key players to new deals while he also needs to build a squad capable of competing for the title next season.
That will require major investment and it looks like the boss is keen to strengthen his attacking options as Lemar has emerged as a key target in recent weeks.
We’ve now stepped-up our interest and it looks like we’re closing in on a deal as the Daily Mail claim that talks have progressed well between Arsenal and Monaco.
The newspaper says Arsenal don’t anticipate any major complications in the negotiations and are confident of wrapping-up a deal to sign the £30m-rated winger this summer.
Despite not being able to offer Champions League football next season, the Mail say Lemar is keen to join Arsenal so it appears we could be closing in on our second major signing of the summer window having already snapped-up Sead Kolasinac on a free from Schalke.
Lemar is considered as one of the hottest young talents in French football after scoring 14 goals and providing a further 17 assists to help Monaco lift the title last season.
The 21-year-old predominantly plays on the left side of the attack so unfortunately he could be lined-up as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez as contract talks with our Chilean superstar continue to drag on.

If we do end up having to cash-in on Alexis then Lemar would be a hugely exciting addition to the squad, but sadly I fear we’re still going to be weaker without Sanchez in the team.
Therefore, let’s hope Lemar is playing alongside Sanchez at the Emirates next season!
