Arsenal to make formal transfer move for Real Madrid attacker
According to the Mirror, Arsenal will make a formal move to try and sign Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vázquez as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his forward options this summer.
The boss is being tipped in the media to finally spend some money after only bringing in one outfield player over the last two transfer windows, with midfielder Mohamed Elneny arriving in January from FC Basel.
It looks like Arsene wants to strengthen his attacking options as the Mirror are citing a report coming out of Spain which claims that we’ll attempt to sign Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez this summer.
The 24-year-old has been on the Madrid books since joining the club as a teenager and progressed through their youth ranks but he’s struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team with the likes of Bale, Ronaldo and Rodriquez all well ahead of him in the pecking order.
Vazquez has managed to make just 11 starts this season and with no sign he’s going to become a regular any time soon, the Spaniard could be open to the idea of a fresh start in North London.
Madrid rate him highly but we all know they aren’t adverse to cashing-in on players so I’m sure a deal could be done if the money is right, but we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of these rumours.
Vazquez is predominantly a right winger so if he does join Arsenal then he could come in as a direct replacement for Theo Walcott – who’s being tipped to leave this summer after falling-out-favour following a hugely disappointing campaign.
