Arsenal star given permission to step-up injury comeback
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has been given permission to step-up his rehabilitation as he looks to finally make his long-awaited injury comeback.
Jack is yet to play a single minute of competitive football this season after suffering a fractured fibula in pre-season training on the eve of our Community Shield victory over Chelsea in early August.
The midfielder was initially ruled out for around 3 months following surgery in early September but a series of setbacks throughout his recovery have seen his comeback delayed several times.
The club was forced to dismiss rumours of another setback last week and the Daily Mail are now reporting that Wilshere has been given the green light from the clubs medical team to step-up his recovery.
The paper says that the 24-year-old will now begin to do running work out on the training pitch to see how the metal plate in his leg holds-up against a more intense training regime.
The worry is that if the increased workload aggravates the problem, then it’s likely to end Wilshere’s season and put his participation at this summers European Championships in serious doubt.
However, if Wilshere suffers no reaction then he should gradually be able to step-up his recovery further with the aim of making his comeback at some point in April.
I’m sure Arsene will take a similar stance as he did with Danny Welbeck and ease Wilshere back in to action with a game or two for the under-21’s so it’s going to be a few weeks yet before we see him in the first team.
