Sanchez Out? My Arsenal Starting XI To Face Everton
Arsenal will look to build on the win over Bayern Munich when we take on Everton at the Emirates on Saturday night. This is the starting eleven I think Arsene Wenger should select:
Goalkeeper: Cech
Ospina missed the Bayern game with a shoulder injury and has been ruled out until after the next international break so Cech will start in goal. The Czech international was outstanding on Tuesday night so Arsene would be mad to leave him out.
Defence: Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Gabriel was ruled out against Munich with illness and it’s not clear if he’ll be available to face Everton yet. Either way, the same back four who stopped Bayern scoring deserve to keep their places this weekend.
That means Bellerin – who was excellent in the second half the other night – should start at right-back, Monreal at left-back while Koscielny should obviously start in the middle.
Midfield: Coquelin, Cazorla
Coquelin and Cazorla have continued to build an impressive partnership together so there’s no reason to change things. Anyway, Arsene has few options in midfield these days as Ramsey and Wilshere are both injured, while Arteta and Flamini aren’t first team material.
Attacker: The Ox, Ozil, Sanchez
Rambo has been ruled out for the next three-to-four weeks after picking up a hamstring injury on Tuesday night so the door is open for Oxlade-Chamberlain to stake his claim alongside Ozil in attack.
Arsene has hinted that it may be time to give Sanchez a breather but I think we should start him against Everton and then give him a well-earned rest at Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup next week.
Striker: Walcott
Theo was a real threat against Bayern and was unfortunate not to score but Giroud came off the bench to grab an important goal so Arsene could be tempted to start the Frenchman this weekend.
However, I’d personally stick with Walcott through the middle and use Oli as an impact sub.
So this is how I’d line-up:
Agree? Who would you start?
