Ratings: Flamini the hero as Arsenal beat Tottenham 2-1
Flamini was the hero as Arsenal beat Tottenham 2-1 at White Hart Lane to book our place in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.
Here are my ratings:
Ospina – 7/10 – Did he give Chambers a shout for their goal? If not, he should have. Made a couple of routine saves but pulled off a worldy to deny Eriksen.
Debuchy – 4/10 – Given a torrid time by Rose. At fault for the equaliser as he was too narrow and failed to cut out the cross. Looks well short of his best form.
Mertesacker – 7/10 – Solid shift from the BFG. Kept Kane relatively quiet.
Chambers – 5/10 – Another own goal for the youngster. No need to stick a leg out. Didn’t look comfortable all night.
Gibbs – 7/10 – Superb goal-line clearance to deny Kane with the scores at 1-1.
Arteta – 5/10 – Off the pace. Booked early on and was ineffective for much of the game.
Flamini – 8/10 – Tidy finish to make it 1-0 but stepped up to smash home a stunning volley to win it. What a hero.
Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7/10 – Was one of the few who looked a threat during the opening 60 minutes but end product is still lacking.
Ramsey – 7/10 – Quiet in the first half but was far more involved after the break when he created a few good chances.
Campbell – 5/10 – Very little impact at all. Just couldn’t get in the game.
Giroud – 5.5/10 – Worked hard up top but had little to play with for the first half of the game. Missed great chance in the 70th minute.
Subs:
Sanchez – 7/10 – Made a real impact. Him just being on the pitch scared Spurs and he looked a threat.
Walcott N/A
So we’re back to winning ways and it couldn’t have been sweeter, with Flamini being the unlikely hero having scored a stunning winner.
A trip to Sheffield Wednesday in the next round awaits but first up we head to Leicester this weekend….
