Arsenal Eyeing €29m Move For Polish Star, Wenger To Act Quickly

Arsenal are lining-up a move for Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak after apparently going cold on a deal for Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger is on the look out for another central midfielder with Flamini and Diaby expected to leave this summer while Arteta is being tipped to step into a coaching role.

Schneiderlin has been our top target for several weeks but reports in recent days have suggested the boss has cooled his interest after Southampton refused to lower their £25m asking price.

The likes of Arturo Vidal, Goeffrey Kondogbia and Ilkay Gundogan have all been linked in the papers but the latest name is that of Grzegorz Krychowiak, with the Times claiming that we’re now turned our attention to the Polish international.

Krychowiak has just enjoyed an excellent season with Sevilla that saw him score in the Europa League final during a thrilling win over Dnipro last month, but it’s his work in the defensive midfield role that’s really caught the eye and the 25-year-old would add a real physical presence to our team.

The Times suggest that Wenger is hoping to move quickly and bring in a holding midfielder soon, but if we do end up going for Krychowiak he’ll still set us back a fair bit as he has a €29m (£21m) buy out clause and Sevilla are unlikely to accept anything lower.

Manchester United are also understood to be keeping track of him but if, as many papers suggest, Schneiderlin ends up going to Old Trafford, we’ll be clear to snap up Krychowiak.

It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out but I’d personally be gutted if we miss out on Schneiderlin as I’m a huge fan and think he’d be ideal. Kondogbia would also be an exciting signing but if Arsene thinks Krychowiak is the man for the job, who am I to argue?
