Arsenal Hold Talks Over Bargain €10m Attacker Deal – Reports

According to a report by the Telegraph, Arsenal are among a host of clubs who have been in talks with Barcelona about a potential €10m deal for Pedro Rodriguez this summer.

Pedro has struggled for first team action at the Nou Camp once again this season with the likes of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi all keeping him out the starting eleven.

In fact, the 27-year-old has made just 7 league starts since Suarez returned from his ban in October, and the Spanish international has already confirmed he’ll consider his future at the end of the season.

Barcelona have publicly insisted they don’t want the long-serving attacker to leave, but it seems privately it’s a very different story.

Pedro is about to enter the final year of his contract and is highly unlikely to pen an extension, and the Telegraph claim that Barca are now ready to cash-in this summer.

The newspaper says that Arsenal are one of several clubs the Catalans have made contact with to discuss the possibility of a cut-price €10m (£7m) deal for the pacey forward.

If true, then this is one deal Arsene Wenger should certainly be giving serious consideration to this summer as Pedro is a top class player who would give us plenty of options in attack as he’s able to play anywhere across the front three.

Despite not always being a regular, he’s still managed to score 98 goals and provide 62 assists in his 315 games for Barcelona, so he’d obviously bring a real goal threat, too.

However, I think any potential deal will depend on the future of Theo Walcott. If he refuses to sign a new contract then we may decide to cash-in and Pedro would be an excellent replacement.
