Arsene Wenger Offers Positive Update On Injured Star

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Danny Welbeck’s knee injury isn’t serious and he could be back to face Swansea City next Monday night.

Welbeck was surprisingly omitted from last night’s squad before our 3-1 victory over Hull City at the KC Stadium.

It soon emerged that the attacker had picked up a knee injury in training and there were rumours circulating that it could have been a season-ended problem.

But thankfully the boss told reporters last night that the injury isn’t a serious one and if he’s not fit to face Swansea on Monday, he’ll be back in contention to take on former side Manchester United the following weekend.

Arsene is quoted as telling the Express:

“There’s an inflammation in his knee – it doesn’t look very bad but he isn’t available for selection.

When asked if he’ll be back before the end of the season, he replied:

“Yes, I think so. I think maybe next Monday against Swansea, if not the game after (against United).”

It’s a big relief as Welbeck has become a useful member of the squad since joining from United last summer. He hasn’t had the same impact as Alexis Sanchez, but he’s still an important player for the boss to call upon.

I wouldn’t rush him back for the Swansea game unless he’s 100% fit, but hopefully he’ll be available to face United as I’m sure Danny will be itching to play at Old Trafford. Especially after bagging the winner during the FA Cup quarter final back in March.
