Arsenal could make a move to sign Kroupi in January

Arsenal could reportedly make a move to sign AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi in January, as per the Independent.

The Gunners entered the transfer window with Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke as right-wing options, while Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard were available on the opposite flank. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz, Viktor Gyökeres and Gabriel Jesus were their options up front.

However, despite letting Jesus, Martinelli and Trossard leave, the North London club only signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge to bolster the frontline.

Meaning Arteta currently has fewer attacking options than he did last term. As a result, the Spanish boss has used Eberechi Eze on the left flank in each of the first two Premier League games to provide support for Tzolis.

Now, the Independent report that if Arsenal face injury problems in the attacking department during the first half of this season, they are prepared to bolster the No.9 position in January and have identified Kroupi as a serious option.

After moving to Vitality Stadium from Lorient, the 20-year-old enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in the Premier League last term, scoring 13 goals. As a result, he attracted a lot of attention this summer.

However, having sustained a serious injury, his potential suitors decided not to make a move for him. But he is expected to return to full fitness before next year.

Kroupi to Arsenal

Kroupi is valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2030. Therefore, Bournemouth are expected to demand a huge fee if they are forced to cash-in next year.

Arsenal currently have Havertz and Gyokeres as striker options, but the former Sporting CP star has struggled to break into Arteta’s starting line-up this season, having displayed inconsistent performances last term.

Kroupi is a centre-forward by trait but is also comfortable in the second striker role. He is a top-class talent and showed glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League last term.

Moreover, the Frenchman isn’t a finished article yet. Therefore, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they eventually manage to secure his services in the winter window.
