New Signing and Pre-Season drama: Are the Gunners Poised to take Another Shot at the Title

Last season, Arsenal had one of the best runs in the English Premier League. After beating Crystal Palace to secure their spot as champions of England and narrowly losing to PSG in the UEFA Champions League finals, Mikel Arteta’s team rewrote history.

With the new season rolling in, Arsenal have made some significant changes in their personnel with an anticipated ripple effect in the team’s performance. In this article we’ll see how these introductions might change the team and how formidable they have been so far in the preseason matches. 

How the Preseason Kicked Off

Well, so far the Gunners are off to a pretty decent start in their preseason, which began with collecting a 4-1 victory against Girona, where their new signing Christos Tzolis made his debut goal. 

After achieving this victory, the Gunners’ celebratory streak was cut short by a 3-1 loss against a well-oiled Real Betis on August 5th. Rodrigo Riquelme, Nelson Deossa, and Pablo Fornals delivered great goals for the Spanish team; however, thanks to a corner from Tzolis, Hincapie managed to get Arsenal on the score sheet. 

If you thought it would end there, it got slightly more frustrating when the gunners lost narrowly in a 3-2 loss against Borussia Dortmund. Once again Tzolis appeared on the radar, providing an assist to Nwaneri Ethan, making him a favorite punter to bet on whenever he comes on. 

On August 12th, Arsenal hosted Como at the Emirates for the last game of their preseason friendlies, and this heated battle ended as a 1-1 draw. Arsenal proceeded to get the better of their opponents in the penalty shootout, winning 4 goals to 3, and as you would have guessed, Tzolis once again made the headlines after netting the winning spot kick. 

Mikel Arteta’s side also saw daylight when they went head-to-head with Manchester City in the Community Shield final, where Pep Guardiola’s team received a humiliating 3 – 0 defeat. Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz, and the Gunners’ captain Martin Odegaard all appeared on the score sheet and definitely gave bettors an amazing experience over at Betway after a well-deserved performance.

While their performance has started off to a shaky beginning, the clubs’ desire to have another cup and, more so, aim for the treble may be the defining factor in this season’s performance. But with players like Tzolis, it’s going to be a fun season for punters visiting platforms like Betway.

The gunners have taken their time to bring in new talents with the hopes of bettering their squad. Their most intriguing addition has been Christos Tzolis, who came from Club Brugge and has since made his presence known during the preseason.

Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle has also come to deliver his talents in midfield. Other signings who you might see as the season progresses include Illan Meslier and Piero Hincapie. With this potential lineup, the Gunners have so much promise.
