Arsenal remain keen on signing Tino Livramento
Arsenal remain keen on signing Tino Livramento from Newcastle United this summer, according to Ekrem Konur.
Having progressed through Cobham Academy, the 23-year-old left Chelsea for Southampton in 2021. His time at St Mary’s Stadium was unfortunately cut short by a serious knee injury that sidelined him for more than a year.
A move to Newcastle United followed in 2023, where he has flourished under Eddie Howe. Since arriving at St James’ Park, he has helped the Magpies end their long wait for major silverware by beating Liverpool in the EFL Cup final in March 2025. He has also played an important role in securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League during the 2024/25 campaign.
The fullback made 26 appearances for Newcastle last season, spending most of his time on the right side of defence while also proving capable of filling in at left-back whenever required.
Livramento was initially selected in Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man England squad for the World Cup. However, an injury sustained in training forced him to withdraw, with Trevoh Chalobah called up as his replacement.
The fullback has been heavily linked with Arsenal, but the interest appears to have cooled down in recent months.
However, in a new update, Ekrem Konur confirms that the Premier League champions remain ‘admirers’ of the 23-year-old.
Exciting fullback
The Gunners view him as one of the most exciting fullbacks in Europe and are closely monitoring him ahead of a possible summer move to the Emirates Stadium, according to the journalist.
Konur adds that while Livramento’s injury records have raised concerns during ongoing discussions over his transfer, they remain interested and have not completely walked away.
Livramento’s qualities suggest he would be an ideal fit for what Mikel Arteta demands tactically at the Emirates. The Englishman brings solid defensive attributes, especially in individual duels, while offering both attacking reliability and the flexibility to play either side.
That dynamism is synonymous with the qualities and profile of Jurriën Timber, who is equally comfortable at both left-back and right-back.
Should Ben White depart during the summer, Livramento would be well placed to compete with the Dutch international for a starting role.
Given how tough a negotiating stance Newcastle took during last summer’s saga involving Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool, Arsenal will need to submit a concrete fee, as the Magpies are likely to demand a fee well above his £38m Transfermarkt valuation.
