Arsenal receive huge boost to sign Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon

By on May 14, 2026

Arsenal have reportedly received a huge boost in their bid to sign Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon, as per TEAMtalk.

The Gunners currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as options for the left flank. Noni Madueke can also provide cover in this position if needed, but he is a right-winger by trait.

Martinelli has struggled to showcase his best in recent years, scoring a solitary goal in 28 Premier League appearances this season. On the other hand, he is set to enter the final year of his current contract at the end of this season.

Trossard, meanwhile, has been the first-choice left-sided forward in Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up, but he has failed to showcase consistency, netting only once thus far this year. The Belgian is set to turn 32 later this year and has found himself in a contract situation similar to Martinelli’s.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are planning to upgrade the left flank this summer and have earmarked Gordon as a serious option. They have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.

However, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also interested in the Englishman, and the Bavarian club have already agreed on personal terms with the player’s representatives.

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Newcastle aren’t in any rush to sell him and have slapped a £75m price tag on his head. But Bayern Munich don’t want to spend anything more than £60m to seal the deal.

Gordon to Arsenal

So, this is a huge boost for Arsenal to finalise the operation, and they are ready to match Newcastle’s valuation. But Gordon is a lifelong Liverpool fan and would be open to moving to Anfield if they eventually make a move.

The 25-year-old is a right-footed left-winger by trait but is also efficient in the centre-forward position if needed. Although Newcastle have displayed inconsistent performances this season, he has showcased his productivity, making 22 goal contributions across all competitions.

After proving his worth at St James’ Park, Gordon has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team.

He is a highly talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service by defeating other clubs in this race.
