Arsenal plot swoop to sign Sunderland’s Noah Sadiki
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After being impressed by the 21-year-old’s performances for Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, the Black Cats decided to secure his services last summer.
This season, the youngster has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League, helping his side push for a European place finish. The newly promoted side are currently just two points behind sixth-placed Chelsea.
Having proven his worth in club football, Sadiki has secured his place in the DR Congo national team’s starting line-up. He has even guided his country to reach this summer’s World Cup.
Now, Fichajes state that Arsenal are planning to reinforce the midfield department with a physically strong player and have identified Sadiki as a perfect option after being impressed by his performances this season.
The African’s recent eye-catching performances haven’t just attracted Arsenal’s attention, as Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Everton have also expressed their interest in him.
However, the Gunners have accelerated their efforts to seal the deal by defeating other clubs. But having recently moved to the Stadium of Light, Sadiki still has a contract until 2030.
Sadiki to Arsenal
So, Sunderland have no intention of parting ways with him, and they consider him a key player for their future. Meaning, Arsenal will have to launch a lucrative proposal to persuade Sunderland to let him leave.
Sadiki is a box-to-box midfielder by trait but is also efficient in the defensive midfield position. He is quick, strong, tidy with possession, and efficient in defensive contributions.
The 21-year-old, valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt, is a talented player and hasn’t reached his prime yet. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.
Arsenal currently have Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, and Christian Norgaard as midfield options. However, the Dane has been on the periphery since joining from Brentford last summer. So, it appears Mikel Arteta has already started exploring options to replace Norgaard.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure Sadiki’s service during the offseason.
