Arsenal register interest in signing Ipswich ace Liam Delap
Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Ipswich Town star Liam Delap, as per Caught Offside.
After moving to Portman Road Stadium from Manchester City last summer, the Englishman has enjoyed a promising start to this season in the Premier League, scoring six goals and registering a solitary assist in 12 league appearances.
The forward has showcased his abilities to score goals in big games as he recently helped his side beat Tottenham Hotspur by scoring a goal and registering an assist. Moreover, he netted twice against Aston Villa earlier this campaign.
Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have started accessing options in the market to strengthen the centre-forward position and Newcastle United star, Alexander Isak, is their priority target but are also interested in Delap.
Ipswich would be open to letting him leave the club if they receive an offer of at least £33m from his potential suitors such as Arsenal. But, Man City have a £20m buyback clause and it remains to be seen whether they opt to trigger it to support Erling Haaland.
Delap to Arsenal
The report say Aston Villa, Newcastle, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also plotting a swoop for him so the North London club will have to overcome tough competition to get the deal done.
Ipswich are currently languishing 18th in the table and are in the relegation zone. Therefore, if they eventually fail to keep their top-flight status next season then it is highly likely that they will lose a few star players with Delap expected to be one of them.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are the two striker options Arsenal currently have. But, Havertz has never been a prolific goal-scorer, although he has had a fine start to this season.
On the other hand, Jesus is yet to open his account in the Premier League this campaign, therefore, adding a new prolific centre-forward would help Arteta finally win the Premier League title.
Delap is a talented player and possesses high potential so he could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.
