Arsenal are set to hold talks with Santiago Gimenez about a potential move this summer after the striker decided he wants to leave Feyenoord this summer, according to the Record.

Mikel Arteta is expected to strengthen his squad this summer and while a new midfielder and winger are reportedly on the agenda, a new clinical striker is expected to be the main priority.

Arsenal are the Premier League’s top goal scorers this season, but they still don’t have a top marksman who can score 20+ league goals a year, so Arteta is expected to solve this issue in the summer.

Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks with the likes of Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney among those touted as targets.

However, Gimenez has also been linked with a move to Arsenal and it appears the Gunners are now ready to step up their interest in the Mexican international.

Gimenez to Arsenal

Record journalist Alejandro Gomez claims that Gimenez has now decided he definitely wants to leave Feyenoord in the summer and will soon open talks with Arsenal over a possible move.

However, the 23-year-old has other options as the report says he will also speak to Juventus and Atletico Madrid before making a final decision over which of the three clubs to join.

On Gimenez, Gomez said:

“He feels that his cycle at Feyenoord is over, and he is ready to start activating contact with three very important institutions. The relationship with each of them is different; although there is not one more ahead than the other, there are different levels of interest,”

“They are not speculations, and the Mexican will have to make a decision between Arsenal, Juventus, and Atlético de Madrid.”

Since last season, Gimenez has excelled in Feyenoord’s colors. This season, he has 26 goals and 6 assists across all competitions, making him one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.

Arsenal could benefit from his signing by acquiring a consistent source of goals. And the 23-year-old could get the huge move he’s yearning for.

However, not only will Arsenal have to fight off competition from Juventus and Atletico, but Feyenoord reportedly want around £87 million for their star man so the Gunners will need to be prepared to pay huge money if they want to sign the Mexican.
