Fabrizio Romano, speaking to Caught Offside, provided the most recent update on Arsenal’s quest for a top winger, stating why Pedro Neto is a player to watch.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly interested in bolstering his attack with a winger in addition to a marquee striker this summer. The Spanish coach knows he needs more competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Saka in particular has been overused in recent seasons by Arsenal due to a lack of top class support on the right wing. Arteta is looking to bring in another option to reduce Saka’s workload and ensure the Gunners have a squad capable of competing on all fronts next season.

Neto to Arsenal

Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of a winger, and believes Pedro Neto is a serious target. The European transfer guru says Arsenal are looking for wingers and have a lengthy list of candidates.

He claims Neto is among their top targets but any potential move for the Portuguese winger will have to wait until Wolves decide how much they want for their star man. Not only that, but Arsenal could also face competition from Tottenham for Neto’s signature.

Romano said:

“Arsenal have some wingers in their sights for the summer, but while it’s normal to see a long list of names linked with clubs in this situation, who’s really emerging as the main options on Arsenal’s list?

“Pedro Neto is a player Arsenal like and have looked at before, but we have to wait for Wolves to decide initial price tag to understand what Arsenal, Tottenham, and more clubs will decide to do.”

Looking at Neto’s stats this season – 2 goals and 9 assists in 19 league games – it’s clear that he’d be a useful addition to the Arsenal squad. However, the key decision makers will be concerned by his injury record. Neto has struggled to stay fit in recent years and has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

Wolves could ask for £60 million or more for Neto’s signature, as per reports. That’s a lot of money for a 22-year-old who has injury problems, so this is a big risk for Arsenal.

Fans will have to hope Neto can overcome his injury woes if he ends up joining Arsenal this summer. If he can stay injury free, there is no doubt the Portuguese winger has the potential to become a top player.

Forget getting Neto for £60m it will be £80m or more being a bidding war will persue, he needs to go to a much bigger club than ars-enal and one that consistently wins honours.
