Brahim Diaz Real Madrid

Arsenal, according to El Nacional via Football Transfers, have tabled an offer worth around £60m for Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz.

There are numerous reasons why Arsenal may want the Real Madrid player, but the success they have had with Martin Odegaard may have been the primary motivator for this move.

Back in the winter transfer window of 2021, the Gunners took a chance on Odegaard, whose talent had been well documented, but he was unable to break into the Real Madrid lineup. Mikel Arteta needed a playmaker to unlock his attack’s potential, and he thought the Norwegian midfielder may be the one. After six months with the Real Madrid man, the Arsenal manager was confident he was the playmaker his project required and Arsenal signed him on a permanent deal.

Fast forward, and we can’t stop marveling at how amazing Odegaard, who eventually became team captain, has been. The Arsenal No. 8 has delivered, and if there was a chance to replicate his transfer, I believe Arsenal would not pass it up.

Brahim Diaz, the next Odegaard

A chance has presented itself in the form of Brahim Diaz. The 24-year-old, who recently swore his allegiance to Morocco, is in a situation similar to Odegaard’s.

Yes, he is brilliant, and that cannot be disputed. However, he is unable to nail a spot in the Real Madrid team. Players like Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, and Vinicius Jr. are ahead of him in the pecking order.

So far this season, he’s made 32 appearances with 17 starts, scoring 8 goals and four assists, but as a player looking to establish himself as one of the best, he deserves to play more regularly. One may argue that if he continues to work hard, he will be rewarded, but according to Football Transfers, with Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid, his playing time may be further reduced.

Diaz might consider leaving Santiago Bernabéu, and El Nacional reports that Arsenal are interested in bringing him to North London. According to the report, the Gunners ‘have made an offer’ of £60 million – a price Real Madrid may consider reasonable to sanction the deal.

Diaz came through the Manchester City system while Mikel Arteta was an assistant, so the Arsenal manager must know him well.

As good as they’ve been, Arsenal might be open to another attacking midfielder to play alongside Martin Odegaard. Kai Havertz has impressed mostly up front, so the Gunners are reportedly in the market for another midfielder.

Odegaard can retain his right-sided No. 8 role, while Brahim Diaz, if signed, would play as the left-sided No. 8. That might be exciting, and with a striker swoop, Arsenal’s attack could be the real deal next season, that’s for sure.
