Arsenal ready to spend £60m to sign Brahim Diaz this summer

Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend £60m to sign Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz this summer, as per the Spanish outlet OK Diario.

After joining Los Blancos from Manchester City back in 2019, the Spaniard initially struggled to flourish his career at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. So, he went out on loan to AC Milan to play regularly and develop his career. The 24-year-old spent a few years at San Siro Stadium before returning to Real Madrid ahead of this season.

Although Diaz hasn’t been able to secure his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven this season, he has managed to showcase his qualities whenever he has gotten the opportunity to play. So, it appears having been impressed by the former Man City star’s recent performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.

According to the report by Ok Diario, Mikel Arteta is ‘in love’ with Diaz’s style of football so the Spanish boss has asked the Gunners hierarchy to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

The report further claims that after considering Arteta’s suggestions, Arsenal have earmarked Diaz as the ‘priority target’ this summer. Ok Diario also states that Arsenal are ready to launch a formal proposal worth around £60m to persuade Real Madrid to cash-in on the forward.

Diaz to Arsenal

The Spanish outlet also says that Diaz could leave Los Blancos ahead of next season if Arsenal and Ancelotti’s side reach an agreement over this deal.

Arteta previously worked with Diaz during their time together at Man City and the Gunners boss now wants to reunite with his former colleague at the North London club.

Diaz is a versatile player as he can play anywhere across the attacking midfield position. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to play threading passes between the lines, can create chances for fellow attackers, has the efficiency of finishing off his opportunities and also works extremely hard without possession.

The Real Madrid star is a highly talented forward and possesses the potential to become a top-class player in the future. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, Arsenal are already well-stocked in their attacking midfield position so I think they don’t need to splash the reported £60m to add more firepower in this area. So, Arteta’s side would be better off exploring options to strengthen other areas of the squad.
