Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh update regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

It has widely been suggested that the Gunners want to reinforce their frontline by signing a new prolific goal-scorer ahead of next season. A few names have been mentioned as serious targets for the North London club with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen being suggested as the primary targets.

Now, speaking on Caught Offside, Romano has reported that Arsenal are genuinely interested in signing Osimhen and they could make ‘concrete steps’ over the coming months.

The journalist further states that Osimhen is likely to leave Napoli at the end of this campaign so Arsenal could manage to secure his signature during the off-season.

However, Romano claims that purchasing Osimhen won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Chelsea and PSG are also keen on securing his signature.

Osimhen to Arsenal

Romano said:

“We have been speaking about PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea for months…for sure these clubs are interested, I don’t think it’s new. It’s going to be important to see who is going to make concrete steps to sign Osimhen, but at the moment we’re not at that stage yet; and it’s the same on player side.

“Osimhen is focused on Napoli for now after signing a new contract earlier this season, even if the feeling was that he would probably leave the club this summer, so let’s see what happens closer to June/July.”

It has been reported that Osimhen has a £111m release clause included in his current contract and Napoli don’t want to let him leave for anything less than that. So, Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure the African to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The Napoli star has already showcased his qualities at the highest level in recent times and is deemed one of the best strikers in the world. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, Osimhen has struggled with injury problems in recent years so Arsenal should be careful about that before spending a huge fee in securing his signature.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to secure the African’s signature this summer to reinforce their attacking department.
