Darren Bent backs Arsenal’s move to sign Pedro Neto

Former striker turned pundit Darren Bent, appearing on talkSPORT, is the latest to explain why Arsenal should buy Pedro Neto this summer.

One may wonder why Arsenal are interested in Neto in the first place. Let’s start with that, before we get into the reason why Bent wants him at the Emirates.

As capable as this Arsenal team is, there are still obvious deficiencies that must be addressed. One of their weaknesses is that they do not have another elite right winger to rotate alongside their star boy, Bukayo Saka.

Saka is only 22, yet he has been assigned the daunting responsibility of “carrying” this Arsenal team. This season, as per the Premier League website, he is the club’s third-most-played player in the league, with 2,060 minutes, after only William Saliba (2250) and Declan Rice (2143).

Notably, last season, Saka was the third most played Gunner (in league games), with 3191 minutes, after only Aaron Ramsdale (3420) and Gabriel Magalhaes (3411).

Even if you claim that the Arsenal man’s numbers show he is reliable, you can’t deny that, at his young age, he shouldn’t be playing so much. The winger’s game time should be carefully handled. Giving him the rest he needs would help him develop.

With a rest, he will also be able to stay fresh throughout the season, will not be predictable, and will be less likely to suffer from burnout. However, if you rest Saka, who replaces him?

Currently, Arsenal don’t have any player in the squad capable of filling in for Saka when needed. Arteta is aware of this, which is why he’s been looking for a right-winger.

Neto has been widely touted as one of Arsenal’s main targets and Dean Jones claims Arteta and his scouts are ‘convinced’ of the Portuguese international.

And as if they needed more emphasis that Neto is the perfect fit for them, ex-Premier League player Darren Bent has outlined why Arsenal should sign the Wolves winger.

Bent, who is now a talkSPORT pundit, believes Neto is an ideal candidate to deputize for Saka. He feels that the Wolves’ star will infuse pace into this Arsenal team and add another dynamic to their attack.

Bent wants Neto at Arsenal

The self-confessed Arsenal fan, said,

“I would love to have him at Arsenal. Rotate: Saka needs a bit of rest.

“He is so quick. He is quicker than you think. When the Wolves break and he has the ball, good luck keeping up with him. I like him.”

Bent is only emphasizing what every Gooner who has spoken about Arsenal’s transfer links with Neto has said. The 23-year-old is an excellent winger and would be a great signing.

Injury-free, he may be ‘unplayable’; he has pace, cleverness, and is excellent at generating opportunities for his teammates. In 16 games he’s played this season, he has two goals and nine assists.

Arsenal will not go wrong by signing him. However, they’ll need to be prepared to pay his reported £60 million price tag.

With his signing, Arsenal’s right wing would be in safe hands for many years to come.

That £60m you are on about is a minimum £80m and could be more, we don’t have to sell and the talk is we might not, apart from that he needs to go to a much bigger club than ars-enal.

Why would Neto join Arsenal and be a substitute for Saka? If you think the price is £60 million dream on. With other clubs also interested then A realistic price is £80 million PLUS. Another thought he is contracted until. 2028.
