Arsenal interested in signing Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel

By on February 22, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel this summer, as per the German outlet Sport Bild.

After moving to the Allianz Arena from Stade Rennais during the summer of 2022, the 18-year-old has found it difficult to break into Thomas Tuchel’s starting eleven in recent times.

So, According to the report by Sport Bild, the Frenchman has become frustrated at Bayern Munich and is willing to leave the club to play regularly and develop his career.

The report further claims that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing Tel by taking advantage of his current situation and they could make a concrete approach to purchase him this summer. The report also says that moving to the Premier League could ‘appeal’ the striker so Arsenal could manage to secure his signature.

However, Sport Bild states that purchasing Tel won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on acquiring his service ahead of next season.

Tel to Arsenal

The 18-year-old – valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt – still has more than three years left in his current contract so Bayern Munich are in no rush to sell him. So, Arsenal will have to offer a lucrative proposal to persuade the German giants to cash-in.

After joining the Bavarian club ahead of last season, Tel has made only one start in the Bundesliga over the last two campaigns. However, although regular first-team football has been hard to come by for him in recent times, he has managed to showcase his qualities whenever he has gotten the chance.

The youngster is a centre-forward by traits but can also be deployed on the flanks. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in defensive contributions and also works hard without possession.

Tel is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class forward in future. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, the striker is still very young and needs time to develop his career. Therefore, Mikel Arteta’s side will have to sign a new experienced striker as well should they sign Tel this summer.
