Dean Jones: Arsenal fans should be excited for the summer transfer window

Mikel Arteta

I understand your disappointment with Arsenal’s winter transfer window, but according to Dean Jones in a conversation with Give Me Sport, Arsenal are planning a major summer transfer window.

Months into the 2023–24 league season, some flaws began to emerge in this Arsenal team. It became clear that the Gunners lacked a clinical striker; their strikers struggled in front of goal; they lacked a reliable midfield option to play alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard; Kai Havertz’s consistency was an issue, and they needed another left back; Oleksander Zinchenko also struggled with consistency.

Aside from that, Arsenal’s squad was thin in comparison to their title rivals, and Mikel Arteta a few days ago alluded to this as quoted by the Evening Standard, adding to the perception that they needed to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window. The Arsenal boss said:

“We have one of the thinnest squads in the league, that’s for sure. And when you talk about the numbers, especially in certain areas, we are really thin.”

The January transfer window came and went, and no acquisitions were made because Arsenal couldn’t afford to spend significantly due to their difficult situation with FFP following their hefty expenditure last summer. Arteta must now deal with his current situation and hope that even without reinforcements, he can still lead the Gunners to a Premier League triumph.

Big summer transfer window

Arsenal’s failure to reinforce this winter, despite the fact that they needed to, suggests that they must do something extraordinary in the summer to compensate for this quiet transfer window.

Journalist Dean Jones believes the Gunners already know the spots they need to strengthen and that they are in a solid position for the summer, having not spent this winter.

The new striker Arsenal desperately need is ‘coming’ this summer, according to Jones, along with another midfielder. He said on Give Me Sport:

“The good thing for Arsenal fans is that because they haven’t panicked, because they haven’t done any business, they’re in a really strong position now for the summer. They will be able to really make the signings that are needed. So you want a striker, you want another central midfielder, you want to more depth in that squad. It’s going to be coming.”

Arsenal may have a squad shake-up in the summer when players such as Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Cedric Soares, Thomas Partey, and Jorginho, leave. Hopefully, with these projected departures, Arteta has a plan to refresh his squad with impactful signings that will help the Gunners build a squad capable of competing on all fronts.

If Arsenal loss Garry Nevell, Carragher and Robbie Kean will say oh Arsenal are not good enough,if they win a match they will have something to say oh Arsenal over celebrated but I always want to see them focus on there former clubs like when Carragher was playing I didn’t like him as a player because he was so lazy he can’t sprint but today he can sit and talk as if he is a world-class Garry Nevell even went as far as to made us believe that the referee and VAR are correct in the goal against Newcastle as shameless as he is he even came to celebrate the referee awarded the goal Gabriel Marhalen against Crystal Palace as an goal but since the goal had been awarded back to Gabriel Marhalen he can not condemned himself very shameless man talking as Mr know all lazy man, when I saw Robbie Kean in the picture he looks like the old Eskimo very unkempt they don’t care for themselves only looking how to criticize another person shame unto them when they see black they called it white it is the high time there employers send parking for they are abusing the work they called for please we need fresh pundits to bring something new for they don’t have anything to contribute again only criticism.
