Arsenal receive boost in pursuit of Amadou Onana
Arsenal have received a boost in pursuit of Everton star Amadou Onana as the Toffees are ready to cash-in on the midfielder this month, as per iNews.
The Gunners have seemingly been exploring the possibility of strengthening their engine room in this winter window. They have been linked with a few names in recent times with the 22-year-old emerging as a serious option.
It has been reported that Arsenal are planning to step up their efforts to sign the Belgian and have already held initial talks with Everton.
Now, according to the report by iNews, Sean Dyche’s side would be tempted to sell their star man amid their financial difficulties if they receive an offer of around £60m from Onana’s potential suitors such as Arsenal. So, the North London club could manage to secure the midfielder’s signature this month.
However, the report claims that Arsenal currently have no money to spend so they need to raise funds by selling some players to bolster their squad in January.
Onana to Arsenal
iNews also states that Manchester United and Chelsea have also been plotting a swoop for the 22-year-old so Arsenal are set to face fierce competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.
Onana still has more than three and a half years left in his current contract so Everton are in a strong position to demand a big fee to let their star man in this winter window.
The 22-year-old is a versatile player as he can play multiple positions in the engine room. He is quick, strong, technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing and also is efficient in defensive contributions.
Onana is a talented player and has already showcased glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent times. So, he would be a shrewd signing for the North London club if they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Mikel Arteta’s side can eventually manage to lure Onana to the Emirates Stadium in this winter window to reinforce their midfield department.
