Arsenal have been made aware that they will have to pay a ‘massive fee’ to sign Barcelona star Ansu Fati this summer, as per the Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Having failed to showcase his best after returning from injury issues, the 20-year-old has struggled to find regular first-team football for the Blaugrana in recent times.

It has been suggested that Barcelona are prepared to sell the winger this summer to raise funds in order to strengthen other areas of the squad.

Arsenal are seemingly looking to take advantage of this situation and sign him to bolster their frontline. However, although Barcelona want to cash-in on Fati, who still has four years left in his current contract, they aren’t willing to let him leave for cheap. Speaking to GiveMeSport, Taylor has reported that Barcelona want a ‘massive fee’ to sell the forward so Arsenal will have to spend big to acquire his service.

Fati to Arsenal

The journalist further claims that Arsenal won’t be able to splash money any more in this transfer window having already invested more than £200m. They can only afford to spend £40m to sign a new player so, it is not clear whether Barcelona would accept the £40m offer if Mikel Arteta’s side opt to submit it.

Taylor states that although the Barcelona star would be a great fit for the North London club, it is unlikely that Arsenal will be able to broker a deal for Fati this summer.

Taylor said:

“Fati is one that would fit Arsenal stylistically, but I think Barcelona would be looking for a massive fee for him really. I just can’t see Arsenal paying big money for another forward, and I think if they’re going to sign anyone else it would probably be a sort of £40 million purchase. Is Fati available for £40 million? He might be but I can’t really see that one, unfortunately.”

Fati started his career brilliantly but his development has been hampered massively due to fitness problems. So, it wouldn’t be a shrewd decision to spend big to sign him this summer. Therefore, Arsenal would be better off exploring other options to strengthen their frontline in this transfer window.
