Arsenal planning to add more firepower this summer

By on July 6, 2023

Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign two more players after signing Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this summer, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.

It was suggested at the beginning of this transfer window that Mikel Arteta’s side would spend big this summer to strengthen the squad in order to challenge on all fronts next season.

The Gunners have already showcased their spending spree this summer having already splashed more than £200m to sign Havertz, Rice and Timber.

However, writing on GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that Arsenal aren’t going to stop their spending spree just yet as they are planning to sign at least two more players before the end of this window.

But, the journalist claims that the North London club won’t make moves just yet as they will now focus on selling some players before refocusing on strengthening the squad towards the back end of this window.

Reinforcements

Jones further states that Arsenal are plotting to sign a new defender and midfielder over the coming weeks with Joao Cancelo, Marc Guehi, Mohamed Simakan, Perr Schuurs and Romeo Lavia being mentioned as potential targets.

But, the journalist suggests that Arsenal could even make a move for a new striker during the final few days of this window if Arteta feels that a new attacker is needed to challenge for the biggest honours next season.

Having already got Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior in the squad with Timber set to join over the coming days, Arsenal don’t need to spend more to strengthen their defence this summer.

However, they could look to sign a new left-back option to support Oleksandr Zinchenko if Arteta doesn’t fancy using Kieran Tierney as a backup to the Ukrainian.

Signing another midfield option would be a shrewd decision and Lavia would be a great signing if they manage to secure his signature this summer.

However, it has been suggested that Liverpool have now firmly joined the race to sign the Belgian as well so Arteta’s side are set to face tough competition from the Merseyside club in getting any potential deal done for the 19-year-old.

It is going to be interesting to see how much more Arsenal will eventually spend to strengthen their squad in this transfer window.
