Arsenal receive boost in pursuit of Leicester star Castagne
Arsenal have received a huge boost in pursuit of Leicester City star Timothy Castagne as the Foxes are ready to sell the Belgian this summer, as per The Athletic.
Following the East Midlands club’s relegation, it is expected that they will be forced to sell some of their stars in the upcoming transfer window. Several players have been linked with a move away from King Power Stadium over the last few weeks with Castagne now included in that list as well.
It has been suggested that Arsenal are looking to reinforce their squad during the off-season and have identified the right-back is an area that needs bolstering.
They have been linked with numerous fullback options over the last few months with Joao Cancelo, Ridle Baku and Ivan Fresneda being among them. But, Castagne is now emerging as a serious target.
It has previously been reported that Arsenal have already opened talks to sign the Belgian international and they could get a deal done for him ‘quickly’ this summer.
Castagne to Arsenal
Now, according to the report by The Athletic, Leicester are open to cashing-in on Castagne so this will be a huge boost for Arsenal in pursuit of the defender.
The 27-year-old – valued at around £24m by Transfermarkt – still has two years left in his current contract. So, it remains to be seen how much Leicester will demand to let their star man leave should Arsenal formalise their interest.
Castagne is a versatile fullback – who can play on both sides. He is quick, technically sound, can create chances for the attackers, has the tendency to chip in with some important goals and can contribute defensively as well.
The Leicester star possesses the necessary attributes to play in Arteta’s possession-based style of football. So, he would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if they manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club decide to make a concrete approach to purchase Castagne should he eventually ends up leaving the King Power Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.
