Arsenal ready to submit bid to sign Caicedo this summer
Arsenal are reportedly ready to submit an opening bid to sign Brighton and Hove Albion ace Moises Caicedo this summer, as per London World.
The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Ecuadorian as they identified the 21-year-old as the priority target to strengthen the engine room last winter.
Mikel Arteta’s side even submitted two official proposals worth up to £70m to purchase the youngster. However, the Seagulls were reluctant to let their star man leave in mid-season and turned down both offers. So, a deal never materialised and in the end, Caicedo remained at the AMEX Stadium.
However, it has been suggested that despite failing to sign the Brighton star back in January, Arsenal haven’t given up on their hopes of acquiring his service as he remains a priority target to reinforce the midfield department in addition to, Declan Rice.
Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi has recently admitted that the Seagulls are expected to lose some of their star men this summer and Caicedo could be one of the players – who might move away. So, this will be a huge boost for Arsenal in pursuit of the 21-year-old.
Caicedo to Arsenal
According to the report by London World, Arsenal are looking to accelerate their efforts to sign Caicedo and are preparing to submit a £75m bid to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.
The report further claims that Brighton have agreed to let Caicedo leave this summer if a substantial offer were to be tabled by the midfielder’s potential suitors such as Arsenal. So, it appears the Gunners would be able to broker a deal for the South American should they formalise their interest.
It has widely been suggested that Arsenal are also keen on signing Rice this summer and they are planning to submit an opening proposal to secure his signature as well. So, it seems Arteta’s side are indeed considering signing both Rice and Caicedo.
Caicedo likes to play as a deep-lying playmaker. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, is dynamic, has an eye for long-range passing and also can contribute defensively as well.
He has already showcased glimpses of his talent during a very short spell in the Premier League. So, Caicedo would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to acquire his service this summer.
It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually manage to purchase both Rice and Caicedo in the upcoming transfer window.
