Arsenal are reportedly plotting an audacious summer swoop for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as per the Football Insider.

After enduring a disappointing campaign last term, the 25-year-old has been enjoying a stellar season, scoring 21 goals and notching up seven assists in 34 appearances in all competitions this season.

The forward has entered the final 18 months of his current contract and is yet to sign an extension with Erik ten Hag’s side. So, his long-term future at Old Trafford is uncertain and the Gunners are seemingly looking to take advantage of this situation.

According to the report by Football Insider, Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Rashford’s situation and they could look to make a move for him if he doesn’t sign the renewal with Man Utd over the coming months.

The report further claims that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the highly talented forward and the England international has been on the Gunners’ radar since last summer.

Rashford to Arsenal

If Man Utd fail to persuade Rashford – valued at around £49m by Transfermarkt – to commit his long-term future at the club over the coming months then the Red Devils could look to cash in on him next summer before his price plummets.

The north London club are seemingly planning to strengthen their attacking department next summer and have already been linked with several options in recent times, with Rashford now emerging as a serious target.

Arteta likes to sign versatile attackers who can play anywhere across the front line and Rashford will be a perfect acquisition if the England international were to move to the Emirates Stadium next summer.

The front line of Rashford, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka would be a mouth-watering prospect for the Emirates faithful, with Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Leandro Trossard in the squad to support the front three.

This would be a dream scenario for Arsenal so it’s going to be interesting to see whether the north London club will be able to broker a deal for the Man Utd ace if the forward doesn’t sign an extension.
