Arsenal are reportedly plotting a January swoop for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic, as per the Daily Mail.

After displaying excellent performances during his time with Borussia Dortmund, the winger caught the attention of the Stamford Bridge club and signed for the Blues back in 2019 for a fee of around £58m.

However, things haven’t gone according to the plan for the USA international in the Premier League. He has struggled with his fitness issue since joining the west London club and has failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

According to the report by Daily Mail, Arsenal are keen on strengthening their flanks in this winter window. The Gunners admire Pulisic’s ability to play different roles and therefore, he could become a potential target for them.

The report further claims that the 24-year-old’s current deal with Chelsea is set to expire within 18 months and talks over a new contract haven’t started yet. Graham Potter’s side could cash in on their star man this January in order to make the most profit out of the American’s sale and are expected to ask a fee of around £35m.

Christian Pulisic to Arsenal

The report also says that Arsenal are set to face tough competition to sign the Chelsea star as Manchester United and Newcastle United are also keeping tabs on his current situation.

Christian Pulisic could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal. The former Dortmund man is quick, can create opportunities for the strikers, and also has an eye for scoring goals. He can play anywhere across the front line, so he would be a useful signing for Arteta’s side if the club’s hierarchy manage to get a deal over the line in January.

The forward has displayed promising performances with his national team in this Qatar World Cup. Therefore, it shows he has the ability to showcase his best at the highest level if he’s in confident mood.

Arsenal need to bolster their flanks in January in order to mount a title charge after the new year as they lack firepower in that department after the first eleven, and Pulisic could be an excellent addition.
