Arsenal have reportedly received a big injury boost as Thomas Partey is set to return to the action earlier than previously expected, as per the Evening Standard.

The Ghanaian started the campaign brilliantly and helped the Gunners in winning the first three games on the trot in the Premier League. However, the 29-year-old suffered an injury setback last month which has kept him out of action in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, following the injury to Mohamed Elneny, Mikel Arteta only has Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka at his disposal as the midfield options during this busy period of the campaign.

So, it is a huge boost for Arsenal if Partey can recover and return to the starting eleven as quickly as possible. The report in the Evening Standard is claiming that Partey is confident he will be available for selection before this month’s international break and there is an outside possibility that the Ghana international could be in the Arsenal squad for Sunday’s game against Everton.

The report further claims that Arteta won’t rush the 29-year-old back despite lacking options in the midfield department due the fact that the Spanish boss can’t afford any more injury setbacks. Partey hasn’t started training with the first team squad yet and is expected to be involved in some group work this week.

Partey set to return to action

The injury counts were increasing for the Gunners in recent weeks as after Partey and Elneny, Emile Smith Rowe has also seemingly sustained a fresh injury in the post-match warm-down session after the game against Man Utd. Oleksandr Zinchenko has only just recovered from a knee issue.

So, it is great news that Partey is likely to return to action before the international break. However, Arteta should give the Ghanaian enough time to recover before bringing him back into the starting eleven, given he has struggled with injury issues in recent years.

Meanwhile, after a brilliant start to their Premier League campaign, Arsenal endured the first defeat of the season on Sunday. The Gunners will now commence their Europa League campaign on Thursday night against FC Zurich before facing Everton next weekend in the Premier League.
