Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, as per Football Insider.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their wide areas this summer as they were previously linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo and Brazilian talent Raphinha. However, while they missed out on signing the former Leeds United winger to Barcelona, the interest in the Dutchman has cooled in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Football Insider is now claiming that Mikel Arteta has shifted his attention to Bayer Leverkusen star Diaby. The 23-years-old enjoyed a stellar campaign last term, scoring 13 goals and registering 12 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances.

The report states that Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has given the ‘green light’ for this transfer to go through before the end of the transfer window.

The outlet further claims that the Bundesliga giants value their star man around £60m, who still has three years left in his current contract as per Transfermarkt. However, the Gunners are not prepared to match the German clubs’ valuation for the 23-years-old’s signature and are ready to negotiate and find an agreement for a cheaper price.

Diaby to Arsenal:

I think Moussa Diaby could be a very good acquisition for Arsenal. The Frenchman has showcased his productivity during his time at the BayArena and the Gunners’ fans will be hoping that the winger will be able to replicate the same performance at the Emirates Stadium should the club manage to get this deal over the line.

The Frenchman is a versatile winger and can play on either flank. He is quick, can manipulate the ball in tight areas and also has the ability to create chances for the strikers.

Strengthening the wide areas will be a wise decision by the north London club. Apart from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, Arteta doesn’t have many quality options at his disposal for the wings as Nicolas Pepe has failed to live up to the expectations since he arrived from Lille back in 2019 and new signing Marquinhos isn’t ready to play regularly in the Premier League.

Although the Spanish boss deployed Emile Smith Rowe in that position last season and the Englishman displayed productive performances, the 22-years-old is not a winger but is an attacking midfielder by traits.

So, Moussa Diaby will be a very good addition to the Arsenal squad if they were to sign the Frenchman this summer.
